Day 2 Nick D.

When measuring yuor lumber this morning, what did you feel about it, what was difficult? When we measured i felt really confident because each person had a role, one person recorded one person measrued and the other person checked. So when measuring everything went really smoothly there weren't any arguments. The only thing that was difficult for me was that we had to measure over 15 pieces of lumber and that got really tiring from the ruitine of measuring, checking, making adjustmants. That was the only thing that was difficult for me.

If you had to teach someone how to use a handsaw, what would you saw? Be specific for safty reasons.

Well first you have to have your goggles sucurly on. Then you have to have 1-2 people holding the wood firmly so it doesn't slip. Then you draw a line of were you are going to cut. So after you do that you put the saw to the edge on the line then you make little cuts pulling back 3-5 times. Once you have a lttle indent ( when you move the saw into the wood it should be smooth) you then put you have your eye lined up with the saw so that you can not see the line. Then you start moving the saw backwords and forwards. You don't want to force the saw into the wood let the saw to most od the work doing long strokes. The other was is to saw with short bursts were you move the saw into the wood back and forth very fast.

What is the magic number we reapeted 10 times and why is it so important? The number we reapeted was 67.5. Thhat number is so important is because the angle at which the 2 pieces of wood meet that connects two pieces of the octagon is 135. That means that each of the pieces of wood that meeet must be at an angle of 67.5 to meet perfectly and make a perfect octagon. That is why 67.5 is such an important number, because it is the most important angle the angle at which all of the pieces meet.
